This policy explains how The Smoke & Salt Co., trading as The Smoke & Salt Co., handles your personal information when you use thesmokeandsaltco.com or order from us. We collect only what we need to feed you.
What we collect
- Your details: name, phone number and email address.
- Your order: what you booked, the date, the number of people, your delivery or venue address, and any notes you add, including allergies and dietary needs.
- Payment records: amount, date, status, and Razorpay's order and payment references.
- Messages: what you send us by phone, WhatsApp, email or Instagram.
We never receive your card number, UPI PIN or bank login. You enter those on Razorpay's secure checkout.
Why we use it
- To take, prepare and deliver your order, and to contact you about it.
- To keep you safe, by making sure the kitchen knows about your allergies.
- To handle payments, refunds and customer care.
- To meet our legal, tax and accounting duties.
You give your consent when you submit your order. We don't sell your information, and we don't send marketing messages unless you ask us to.
Who we share it with
We share only what each service needs:
- Razorpay Software Private Limited processes payments under its own privacy policy.
- Cloudflare hosts this website and our database, and may process data outside India.
- Delivery staff receive your name, phone number and address when your order is delivered.
We disclose information to the authorities only when the law requires it.
Cookies
The public site doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies. The staff portal uses one login cookie. Razorpay's checkout may set its own cookies to process your payment securely and prevent fraud.
How long we keep it
We keep order and payment records for as long as tax and accounting law requires. We delete or anonymise other personal information when it is no longer needed.
How we protect it
Our site uses encrypted connections, our portal is protected by a password, and only people who run the business can see orders. No system is perfectly secure, so if a breach affects you, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
Your rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct or delete it, withdraw your consent, and nominate someone to act for you. We may have to keep some records where the law requires it, and we can't fulfil an order without the details it needs.
Children
Our service is for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you think a child has given us their details, please contact us and we will delete them.
